Our very first legacy was received from a man called David Lewis, who is best known for his retail stores; Lewis’s in Liverpool and Manchester. On his death he left his fortune to be used for the benefit of the working class people of those cities. In 1904, with a generous donation from his legacy, to provide a facility for people in Manchester with epilepsy, our charity was born in his name.
As one of the UK’s leading specialists caring for people with complex needs, we continue his legacy today. ‘To be a progressive, enabling organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people with severe epilepsy, autism and learning difficulties.’
